AHIA Congratulates Joe Pereles

Winner of the Harriman Award for Distinguished Volunteer Service - American Red Cross

Just want to take a minute to recognize our very own special Joe Pereles. Joe has been selected to receive the prestigious Harriman Award for Distinguished Volunteer Service with the American Red Cross. Joe will be presented with this award during the Leadership Awards dinner in Washington DC on October 28th.

The Harriman Award is the highest recognition for volunteer service in the American Red Cross. Joe has volunteered his time and talent to the American Red Cross for almost 30 years, including the following:

  • He was Chair of the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross St. Louis Chapter – July 1998 through June 2000 (member 1992 -2005)
  • He was Chair of the Blood Region from 2002 until election to Board of Governors in 2005
  • He was Chair of 2004 National Convention held in St. Louis
  • He was a member of the National Board of Governors of the American Red Cross for 9 years (2005-2014); Vice Chair of the Board 4 years
  • He has donated over 140 units of blood
  • He presently serves on the Compliance and Mediation Committee of the International Red Cross
  • He is a member of the Red Cross National Philanthropic Board

He was elected as Emeritus Director of St. Louis Chapter in early 2015
